Funding your care

Paying for care can feel complicated. Here is a simple guide to the main ways home care is funded in England, and how we can help you through it.

Funded by your council

Your local council can carry out a free care needs assessment. In Peterborough this is Peterborough City Council, and elsewhere in Cambridgeshire it is Cambridgeshire County Council. If you are eligible, a financial assessment works out how much, if anything, you contribute.

Direct payments

If the council agrees you need care, you can ask to receive the money as a direct payment. This lets you choose who provides your care, including Glow-Gold, and arrange visits around you.

NHS Continuing Healthcare

If your needs are mainly health-related, you may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare, which is arranged and fully funded by the NHS. Ask your GP, social worker or hospital team about an assessment.

Paying for your own care

You can arrange care with us directly, whatever your circumstances. Every care package is different, so please contact us to talk through your needs and we will explain the costs clearly before anything starts.
